Sunday, September 25th, 2005Just as I am about to leave for our holiday in sunny Portugal, the pregnancy nausea seems to have returned with a vengeance. I didn’t dare book a summer holiday while I was in the throes of first trimester throwing up so we waited until I was feeling better. Now I appear to be in the throes of third trimester sickness. The only thing that makes me feel better is my trusty Mars Bars so I have loaded the suitcase with multipacks of them and have decided that I have no option but to get truly fat in this pregnancy because that is preferable to being sick. I breastfeed for a year or so, so I’ll lose all that chocolate fat that is sitting on my hips right?
So adieu for a short while while I sit in the sun eating Mars Bars and hopefully catching up on some books.

If you like this post you can...Mmmm… who knew the secret service could be so exciting
Sunday, September 18th, 2005I’ve always loved the series Spooks. It’s a great programme about the British Intelligence Service - which for some odd reason my family think I am a member of, which of course is true because I can so easily combine staying at home with two children under four and be pregnant AND run around catching baddies and saving the country from being blown up by madmen - and is one of the few things on television at the moment that is worth watching.
But this series is SO GOOD. I could pretend it was because of the timely storylines - bombs in London, for instance - or the quality acting. But mostly it is because of Rupert Penry-Jones who plays MI5 agent Adam Carter:
Yup, I’ll be watching every week. I may even be videoing it as well and watching the repeats. I mean, isn’t that why freeze-frame was invented?
If you like this post you can...Live8
Tuesday, July 5th, 2005Live8 was a blast. There were plenty of interesting acts: Sting (swoon), Robbie Williams, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Coldplay and Keane were great, Madonna who was outstanding and Robbie Williams, who definitely entertained.
Disappointing were Joss Stone (can’t stand her music anyway), UB40 (not quite sure why they were included on the bill in the first place) Snoop Dogg (he couldn’t stop saying m*therf*cker and I was praying my children didn’t hear) and Pink Floyd (all I can say about them is Why?)
Three days on and I am curious to see what impact Live8 will have had on the G8 summit which starts tomorrow.
On my mind:
will London be awarded the 2012 Olympics tomorrow?
the programme on slaughterhouses I watched last night.
how much I love my children and how well behaved they are with me when someone else is looking after them the majority of the time (if that isn’t a case for full-time daycare for them, I don’t know what is).
Village life: every one here has more money than sense
Sunday, May 8th, 2005
Our village is so tiny that nothing ever seems to happen. But when you live here a while you find out that every one in the village has something a bit unusual about them.
So today twenty seven helicopters flew in and landed on the cricket square to join one of our neighbours for lunch. As you do.
If you like this post you can...Thomas, Thomas and more Thomas
Monday, May 2nd, 2005Today is the May Day Bank Holiday and, as is tradition, we ventured out en-famille with the great unwashed for a Family Day Out.
Our choice of destination today was The Thomas the Tank Engine Day. Oh lucky us! As if Matthew and I aren’t subjected to enough Thomas the Tank Engine at home we choose to take our toddlers to things like Thomas Days Out whenever we have the opportunity.
See Thomas!
See Eldest Son looking at Thomas leaflet while riding on Thomas!
See Second Son riding Thomas while looking at Mavis!
Oh yes, there was SO much Thomas. About two hundred and three digital photos worth.
I have to tell you though, it was absolutely worth it just to see the excitement on Eldest Son, Harry’s, face.
And we are now, of course, officially Best Parents In The World.
