Packing a labor bag

February 14th, 2008 · 6 Comments · Pregnancy

So I’ve been having irregular contractions for a couple of days. But last time round I had the same thing for several weeks before my due date and Ben ended up being fifteen days overdue. Even then he only came out because I was induced. Lazy boy.

So I’m not worried.

But I have packed a labour bag. Just in case.

Oh, hang in there…you’re in the home stretch!! You know, it’s almost all a blur now (my baby is WALKING for goodness sake!) but I remember having contractions galore the last few weeks. My husband kept thinking, “any day now”, but I went on for weeks like that. In fact I had a few mornings when I almost woke him up thinking I was in labor, only to have the contractions go away…then come back, then go away. It’s very frustrating, I know. You know what is so great about the first few weeks? The baby sleeps ALL the time. Sure, they eat, but they sleep sooo much, too. You will get some sleep, don’t worry. And when the nanny/maid/personal assistant is done at your house, send her by mine, please!

Could it be dehydration? I heard there’s a correlation between contractions in the third trimester and contractions.

Sarah – I hadn’t heard that but I have been very thirsty with the GD so maybe it’s all related.

Anyway, I’m still here and no sign of labor so I don’t think there will be a baby anytime soon…

Hi Ella, Wishing you the best of luck… I’ve just found your blog! I went earlier each time with all three of mine (last baby was around 3 weeks early) so you’re wise to have your bag packed well in advance :)

Hope all goes well and you look after yourself after baby is born.

Its really better to prepare early than to crammy:) Good luck to your delivery. I know you can make it.
