    Talking About Motherhood

« Hairy scary | Home | The great escape »

Twenty nine, thirty, thirty one, thirty two and thirty three weeks pregnant. Or we could just call it seven months.

    By ella | November 8, 2005

I’m trussed up like a turkey.

After another trip to the hospital, I am now fully fitted with my FemBrace, designed to support this huge bump and give my back some much needed support. Never a sexier item of underclothing have you seen. Really, I can’t wait for Matthew to return from his trip because he is so going to jump on me when he sees it. But the relief it provides for my aching back makes up for any lack of sexual allure. Hairy legs, weird undergarments, stretchmarked belly, it could make a girl really depressed, but I’m so pregnant now that I’m kind of past caring.

The glucose test results came back negative so I am simply expert at producing large babies without any particular underlying reason. I could have told them that! Still, it’s better to know that all is well, and I did of course have a lovely day out whilst being tested.

I’ve written my birth plan which basically says ‘don’t bother me while I’m having contractions’ and have finished the baby’s room which basically entailed getting a new mattress for the Moses basket and putting it at the end of our bed. I am still waiting for that nesting instinct to kick in so I get some proper stuff ready for this poor baby.

And I am sleeping. All the time. Which is why I hardly post anymore. But when you click on my page and see that I still haven’t updated then you can imagine me lying gently on the sofa while the children play quietly with their Thomas the Tank Engine track all the while stroking my hair and kissing me and you will sigh at the beautiful picture of motherhood that that surely brings to mind.
