    Happy Birthday to Me

    By ella | October 18, 2005

Another year older, another year wiser. Matthew brought me breakfast in bed, looked after the children, provided chocolate cake and presents and then cooked me supper. It was all lovely. Then while we were putting the children to bed, Matthew cracked a rib and has been in tremendous pain since. The lengths some people will go to get out of the washing up…

I do feel quite sorry for him, except that I am always telling the boys to stop running, jumping and fighting and, what does he do?, he cracks his rib while mucking about with the boys, which in my mind makes it pretty much self-inflicted (I know, I’m so heartless). So now it means that we both lie on the sofa in the evenings arguing about which of us is more incapacitated - him by his cracked rib or me by my chronic baby-induced back pain - and therefore which of us has to get up and get the chocolate. Honestly, we lead such exciting lives.
