Oh yeah, I’m just full of the joys of life at the moment
By ella | June 20, 2005
I did not have a good day yesterday. I am so tetchy and miserable, the result of seven weeks of sickness really taking its toll on me. Matthew is driving me nuts, but of course he’s not, although he is and I’m just overreacting to everything. He shouted at me yesterday for trying to move the paddling pool which was full of water and which I had already punctured a few days earlier (moving it back into the garden after soaking it and then scrubbing it to get bird shit off it - clearly nobody else was going to do it) and which he had put in the sun for the boys to play in after Harry burned his back doing the same thing on Saturday while Matthew was looking after him. I was not best pleased so I went off to walk the dogs cursing and swearing and then threw up in the wheat field. And then we went out to my parents for a meal and my Dad opened his Father’s Day card which was supposed to be funny, as it had a picture of a golfer and said something like Everyone knows Simon’s handicap was simply that he was a crap golfer. My father is a good golfer, it was a joke. IT WAS A JOKE. My father said “oh thanks. That’s really hurtful. In fact that’s horrible. You’re a bitch. ” Nice.
And then Matthew told me off for telling him not to run with Harry across the wet grass. He got properly annoyed. I said it quietly. He said it for all my family to hear. Nice.
Then I ate the meal and threw up. I was at the end of the table with Harry and William on either side so the conversation was great. Matthew sat almost with his back to us and spent the entire evening talking with everyone else and drinking. My sister was tetchy and miserable because she is due to have a baby next week and looks fed up. You’d have thought we could have commiserated together but we barely had a chance to exchange a single word being left with the babies while the husbands got pissed. Yeah, a great evening.
So basically I am sick, I am managing to piss everybody off, I am sick some more and then I piss people off some more. Yeah, life is just dandy.
