The truly amazing part of the story is that you had a SECOND child! My first was completely natural, no drugs (what a fool!!) I remember all the blood too. Yuck. I remember saying to my husband that I was amazed anyone would do this twice! Apparently, along with the many other wonders of motherhood comes amnesia, and we too had two.

P.S. My younger sister gave birth to twins via c-section this morning! A little premie, but okay. It's always a miracle!

I'm sure the mare's episiotomy couldn't have hurt nearly as badly as yours but I like the way you can link a visit to see horses to your birth stories! Very cool.

I know it might seem like I whine quite a lot on this blog, but I don't much in 'real' life: this is my outlet. So yes, I definitely want another baby. It will take more than a bad birth story to put me off - it wasn't really that bad, given that I have a lovely healthy baby, but I would like a nice pain-free straightforward delivery for the next one!

And you are seriously thinking of having another?

I always suspected that my c-section was less of a hassle than an episiotomy would be (which I think are pretty routine here). I never gave the birth experience much thought when I was pregnant - I was so happy just to be pregnant finally at 39 and I think I was trying NOT to think about what labor would be like...

Ella, I am sooooo sorry that you had to endure such awful births. I had two c-sections, one planned and one emergency. They weren't that bad - I cannot imagine an episiotomy, nor a german woman, nor forceps. Any of those alone would be bad enough.

Hope you are enjoying your new home.
