Boys and their Cars - Part Two
By ella | January 5, 2005
My husband’s car has been in the shop. It has been somewhat inconvenient because my husband loves his car and I will admit it is a nice car but HE WON’T STOP GOING ON ABOUT HOW MUCH HE HAS MISSED IT. When he goes away for five days on business he doesn’t miss me anything like he has missed this car while it has been in the shop.
It has also been somewhat inconvenient because it is Eldest Son’s birthday party tomorrow, which in our family is an excuse for a very large drunken party and we need the car to run errands (by which I mean pick up booze).
As the babies birthdays came and went I thought the novelty of birthday parties would wear off, but in truth I love them. All that gin and no need to drive anywhere.
So we were making preparations for the party today and my husband looks at me smiling and says “I’m really excited.” “About the party?” I say. “Well yes,” he says uncertainly, “well no…..” I pause. “I meant about picking up my car.”
Heavens. Pass me that gin bottle, now.
