A kick up the arse to village apathy
By ella | December 29, 2004
I have been surprised and pleased to see so many people contributing to the Asian aid appeal that has been set up in my village. Some of these people I have never even seen before. I live in a small village. How come I have never seen them before? Why does it take a disaster of such proportions for some of them to finally become active members of our local, wider and international community?
It’s so hard to know what to do to help. We have gathered emergency supplies and donated money. What can we do for these people? How can we make sure that we continue to help them for as long as they need it?
